Wildstone gain consent for full motion digital screens in Newcastle City Centre

Wildstone, on behalf of Newcastle City Council, have gained planning consent for the first full motion portrait digital outdoor advertising screens in the centre of Newcastle.

The screens which measure 3m x 6m, are part of a double-sided, freestanding structure to be located in the middle of Northumberland Street, Newcastle’s major pedestrianised shopping area, where in terms of rental per square foot, is the most expensive location in the UK outside of London for retailers.

The design of the structure enables pedestrians to walk under it and includes a pattern inspired by the local River Tyne.

The development of the site is part of Wildstone’s contract with Newcastle City Council to maximise revenue through creating digital advertising sites in areas where large format advertising is limited, and establishing a premium media channel in the city. As part of the same contract, Wildstone recently developed Newcastle Central, a landscape digital screen on the main vehicular route through the city which was won by Forrest Media in a competitive tender.

The advertising rights to the structure will be tendered in the near future, if you wish to be included in the invitation to tender, please email
